EuPEO Instruments Description (MEA & TIM)
The country’s Manual for External Assessment (MEA) is defined as a methodological ebook to be integrated into the platform supported by the EuPEO website. This corresponds to the guidelines for national use of the EuPEO platform and consists of two questionnaires directed to the national representatives of Physical Education teachers (ECQ and NELAS).
- - The EuPEO Country Questionnaire (ECQ) derives from an adaptation of the ESQ. It is self-administered online (LimeSurvey). The target group for the application of this instrument is representatives of the National Associations of Physical Education Professionals, project partners.
- The National External Learning Assessment Systems (NELAS) in Physical Education is applied to the head representatives of the professional associations of Physical Education. NELAS content analysis will allow the identification of the focus and procedures adopted in each country partner regarding the external assessment of learning in Physical Education or equivalent curricular activities. After the questionnaires' first pilot, NELAS was integrated into the country questionnaire regarding the category "Assessment and grading in Physical Education".
The Toolkit for Internal Monitoring (TIM) can be defined as a methodological e-book consisting of a set of tools, based on Physical Education quality indicators, to be used within each school as a monitoring procedure for improving these indicators. In the case of TIM application for participation, it involves applying the instruments described below:
For the PE Head and PE teacher:
- The EuPEO School Questionnaire (ESQ) is an online questionnaire, being anonymous and presented in the native language to be answered by the Physical Education Coordinator about his school (providing support from the Directorate and colleagues in the Department for specific questions), focusing on the dimensions of curriculum, partnerships, facilities and equipment, and teacher workforce.
- The EuPEO Learning Assessment System - Teacher (EuLAS-T) is an online questionnaire, anonymous and presented in the native language, to be answered by physical education teachers of the classes of the last compulsory school year. This focuses on two learning dimensions in common areas of the Physical Education Curriculum: 1) Physical activities and 2) health-related physical fitness. It serves as a platform for recording student learning with reference to pre-established criteria.
For students:
- The EuPEO Pupils Questionnaire (EPQ) is an online questionnaire, anonymous and presented in the native language, to be answered by a sample of students of the last compulsory school year. This focuses on one dimension: the curriculum.
- The EuPEO Learning Assessment System - Pupil (EuLAS-P) is an online questionnaire, anonymous and presented in the native language, to be answered by the respective students of the last compulsory school year. This focuses only on the psychological dimension of Physical Self-conceptions. The Physical Self-concept Questionnaire (PSCQ) developed and validated by Lohbeck, Tietjens, and Bund (2016, 2017) was the chosen instrument to collect data on Physical Self-Perceptions. EuLAS- P will be included in EPQ at its final version.
