EUPEA is the umbrella organisation of the national Physical Education Associations in Europe, representing approx. 200.000 individual members (Physical Education teachers) in 32 countries.

EUPEA’s vision is to promote Physical Education as an important educational area within the school system and the training of young people. Its mission is to guarantee the presence of Physical Education within the curriculum through a continuously adjusted and actualized argumentation and lobby for the position of Physical Education in all countries of Europe. One of EUPEA’s core objectives is to continuously investigate the situation of Physical Education and school sport in the different member countries in Europe.

EUPEA is a beneficiary of EuPEO project with responsibilities to collaborate with the members on Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. Its President Dr. Claude Scheuer is the partner coordinator and forms the EUPEA research team with the Executive Committee Member Martin Holzweg.

SPEF is the oldest nongovernmental and not-for-profit organization that represents the professional and scientific community in the area of Physical Education, Exercise and Sports in Portugal. SPEF was founded in 1983 with the purpose to study and disseminate knowledge about physical activity, physical education and sport by promoting a scientific attitude concerning the problems related with every kind of physical activities; improving the social contact between specialists of different areas, through the organization of scientific events and other forms of exchange and collaboration; encouraging the development of research projects, namely with interdisciplinary characteristics, in order to deepening of knowledge and the search for solutions to the problems affecting the development of Physical Education application areas; establish and maintain relationships with other national and foreign associations.

SPEF is a beneficiary directly supporting the EuPEO’s project coordination from FMH by co-planning and co-preparing all of its activities, as well as working with FMH in Portuguese data, outputs, and dissemination, and with the members on Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. SPEF’s research team comprises one of its Vice-Presidents Dr. João Costa as partner coordinator and responsible to directly support the EuPEO’s PI (Dr. Marcos Onofre) and its President MsEd. Nuno Ferro.

The Willibald Gebhardt Research Institute (WGI) is a non-governmental, non-commercial private body. It was founded in 1992 and is liaised by a contract (2000) with the university of Duisburg-Essen. The WGI is officially listed by the IOC as one of about 20 Olympic Study Centres around the world and is a full member of WHO HEPA EUROPE. Key activities are applied research in physical education/Olympic education, HEPA and youth sports.

WGI is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to host the EuPEO’s fourth project meeting in March 2020 and to collaborate with DSLV (and Munster University) for the German and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. WGI research team comprises its Vice-Presidents Dr. Roland Naul as the partner coordinator and Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper. WGI will be supported by Dr. Nils Neuber and MsA. Stefanie Dahl as observers from the University of Münster (UM).

The “Deutscher Sportleherverband” (DSLV, German Physical Education Teacher Association) was founded in 1949 and has approx. 10.000 members (Physical Education teachers). The DSLV is the only professional associations for Physical Education teachers in Germany. Members of DSLV teach at schools, universities, sport clubs and private universities. DSLV is member of the “Deutscher Olympische Sportbund” (DOSB, German Olympic Sports Confederation), the “Deutsches Olympisches Institut” (DOI, German Olympic Institute) as well as the European Physical Education Association (EUPEA).

The German Physical Education Teacher Association is a beneficiary of EuPEO project with responsibilities to collaborate with WGI (and Munster University) for the German and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. DSLV research team comprises its President MsC. Michael Fahlenbock as the partner coordinator and Dr. Daniel Möellenbeck.

The Swiss Federal Institute of Sports Magglingen (SFISM) is one of Switzerland’s leading training and further education institutions for sport. It offers full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes and additional part-time studies. The study programmes in Magglingen provide basic knowledge at Bachelor’s level and specialised knowledge at Master’s level in various sports science disciplines. There is a strong focus on the practical skills needed for a range of sports-based activities and career paths. The SFISM also conducts application-based research and development in the field of sports, providing services to the next generation of top-class sportsmen and women. As a university of applied sciences, the SFISM is affiliated to the BFH and part of the Federal Office of Sport FOSPO; it forms an important part of the Magglingen umbrella organisation covering sports policy, sports promotion and sports science in Switzerland.

SFISM is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to host the fifth (last) project meeting in June 2020 and to collaborate with SNPEA for the Swiss and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. SFISM’s Scientific Advisor UD. Rose-Marie Repond is the partner coordinator and researcher.

The SNPEA is the umbrella association of the cantonal PE association in Switzerland. The association is the official professional organ for PE teachers, teachers teaching PE. It also takes care of all the questions concerned by PE and sport within the school context. The association promotes the right for every child and young person to have access to PE and sport in the school, without discrimination of gender, skills, with a attention for overweight and obese children.

The Swiss professional association is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to collaborate with SFISM for the Swiss and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. SNPEA’s President MsC. Ruedi Schmid is the partner coordinator and researcher.

Faculty of Sport is one of the member of University of Ljubljana. Faculty of Sport is the only institution in Slovenia, which has been educating specialist physical education teachers since its establishment in 1960. It currently educates over 800 students of three separate study bachelor and M.A. programmes: physical education, kinesiology and sport training. The faculty has a well-developed access to all Slovenian primary and secondary schools and has always been actively involved in the formation of national policies in the area of enhancing physical education curriculum and health related physical activity and sport.

FoS is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to host the third project meeting in September 2019 and on the Slovenian and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. FoS’ Professor Dr. Gregor Jurak is the partner coordinator. The other members of the FoS research team comprise Assistant Professor Dr. Gregor Starc and Assistant Dr. Vedrana Sember.

Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci (Palacký University Olomouc, hereinafter referred to as: UP) is one of the oldest universities in Central Europe. Drawing on more than 440-year tradition of higher education it is a renowned centre for teaching and research. With more than 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students at eight faculties, it provides quality education and excellent background for research in a wide range of academic disciplines. UP is the most progressive university in the Czech Republic in innovation projects granted by the European Social Fund and the Czech Government.

The Faculty of Physical Culture (FPC), from Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities on the Czech and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. FPC’s Associate Professor Dr. Jana Vašíčková is the partner coordinator and researcher.

The Hungarian School Sport Federation (“Magyar Diáksport Szövetség”: HSSF), founded in 1987, today is probably Hungary’s largest sports federation. It has received public benefit status according to Hungarian law which means that the activity of the organisation is recognised by the state as of public interest. The mission of the organisation is contribute to a healthier and more active Hungarian population by focusing on the youth and the promotion of physically active lifestyle and health-enhancing physical activity.

HSSF, a civil organisation for Hungarian youth sport and education, is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities on the Hungarian and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. HSSF research team comprises its Senior Consultant Dr. Tamáas Csányi as the partner coordinator and researcher. HSSF will be supported by Dr. Zoltán Vass as observer.

The SNEP (Syndicat National de l’Education Physique) is a professional associations for Physical Education teachers in France. Members of the SNEP teach in schools, universities, sport clubs and universities. The SNEP – (National Trade-Union of Physical Education) is the French trade union of PE teachers. It has been created in 1926 and is the only specific trade union in France and in Europe. The aim of SNEP is the promotion of PE teachers and the place of both PSE (Physical and Sport Education) and School Sport in the educational system, as a real part of the school common culture, a PSE based on the teaching and learning of PSAA (physical, sport and artistic activities).

The French Physical Education teacher union is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to host the second project meeting in March 2019 and on the French and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. SNEP’s National Secretary MsC. Bruno Cremonesi is the partner coordinator and researcher.

Originally founded in 1845 as "Queen's College Cork", UCC is one of Ireland's oldest institutions of higher education. Established in 1905, the School of Education has a proud history of shaping and responding to education research, policy and practice in the region, nationally and internationally. A range of offerings include: Early Years and Childhood education, Science Education, Sports Studies and Physical Education and the Professional Masters in Education and the long standing Masters in Education and PhD Cohort. The flagship programme is the B Ed (Hons) Sports Studies and Physical Education degree programme, which began in UCC in 2006.  Current graduates are teaching/coaching and promoting physical activity in a range of contexts on every continent.

The School of Education (SoE), from University College Cork, is a beneficiary of EuPEO project with responsibilities on the Irish and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. SoE research team comprises its Head of School Dr. Fiona Chambers as the partner coordinator and Dr. Wesley O’Brien.

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) is the funding agency supporting the project, delegating in Dra. Viera Kerpanova the role of project advisor.
