The Willibald Gebhardt Research Institute (WGI) is a non-governmental, non-commercial private body. It was founded in 1992 and is liaised by a contract (2000) with the university of Duisburg-Essen. The WGI is officially listed by the IOC as one of about 20 Olympic Study Centres around the world and is a full member of WHO HEPA EUROPE. Key activities are applied research in physical education/Olympic education, HEPA and youth sports.
WGI is a beneficiary of the project with responsibilities to host the EuPEO’s fourth project meeting in March 2020 and to collaborate with DSLV (and Munster University) for the German and Europe-wide data, outputs and dissemination. WGI research team comprises its Vice-Presidents Dr. Roland Naul as the partner coordinator and Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper. WGI will be supported by Dr. Nils Neuber and MsA. Stefanie Dahl as observers from the University of Münster (UM).
